The Del Amitri Concert, August 13, 1997

Okay, I've been a fan for about a year and a half, but this is the first time I've had the money to go. There were to say the least incredible.

First, just out of nicety, the opening band Jackopierce was electric. Practically lit the air on fire. As I had been told though, Del Amitri was to be even better.

Justin hopped onto the stage first, sporting his new brush cut. It really wasn't too much of an adjustment (at least for me never seing him in person before). The first three songs rocked the house, and were without incident. That is, until Cruel Light of Day.

Just as the song begain, a lovely young lady in a skimpy summer dress decided to show here appreciation for the new guitarist by clambering up onto the stage and dancing with him. This ended up causing Justin to lose his words because he was laughing so. Fortunately for this miss, the Security people were too preoccupied acquainting themselves with audience members to notice her. She had a nice long dance while we all laughed. Jon didn't mind and followed her into the back as the Security guys finally realized what was going on. Someone won't have a job tomorrow.

Justin was a laugh all through, cracking jokes left and right. "I noticed that someone was talked to by security about taking pictures. I'll have to appologize, you see, I have very delicate skin! For every flash that goes off, I lose layers of epidermis."

PAPER THIN was a new addition to the PlayList from all the previous ones I have seen. As Justin put it "Its a new song about the lives of rich people." ORDINARY LAND which showed up in the first Encore group had no introduction, but had a great feeling going with it. Both were very good songs and I'm looking foward to seeing them on the next alblum.

As far as tradition goes, they rounded up the set with Kiss This Thing Goodbye. We were all left with a feeling of money well spent, and they've officially made ME a fan - and an IN-CONCERT fan - for life!
